Pelatihan Pelafalan Bahasa Inggris Berbasis IPA bagi Pemandu Wisata Binaan Disbudpar Kabupaten Bandung

Ketika mendampingi wisatawan asing, pemandu wisata perlu melafalkan istilah destinasi secara jelas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan bersama 12 pemandu wisata binaan Disbudpar Kabupaten Bandung untuk mengenalkan International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) sebagai alat bantu membaca bunyi bahasa Inggris. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui penjelasan singkat, contoh dari kamus digital, latihan berulang, rekaman suara sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan, serta refleksi peserta. Hasil evaluasi memperlihatkan perubahan yang nyata: pada awal kegiatan tidak ada peserta yang mengenal simbol fonetik, sedangkan setelah pelatihan seluruh peserta telah mengenal fungsinya. Skor rata-rata kepercayaan diri pelafalan naik dari 3,43 menjadi 4,36 pada skala 5. Dalam praktik, peserta mulai lebih berani mengucapkan kata seperti destination, heritage, dan hospitality karena memiliki acuan bunyi, bukan hanya menebak dari ejaan. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengenalan IPA yang dikaitkan dengan kosakata wisata dapat menjadi cara sederhana untuk mendukung kesiapan komunikasi pemandu wisata saat melayani wisatawan asing.
